Default Squeal at shift.... uh oh?

I got my SCT yesterday, so obviously I've been romping on the pedal.

On my way to work I was speeding from stop through a turn, and I thought I heard a really small tiny squeal.

At lunch, I was going down a road that was going from 40 to 55, and the guy in front of me was turning. So I went from about 30 to 60 hard. When it was somewhere between 4k and 5k RPMs, there was a definite squeal right before the shift.

Something to worry about?

sounds like the tune did something to the shifts. did you adjust the shift points manually or did you just apply a canned tune? If you did any manual adjustments, i would go ahead and put the stock tune back in it and try to recreate some these situations and see if it still does it.....also, you might want to check to make sure you are not low on transmission fluid too.

Just loaded up the canned tune on the tuner. Haven't got a custom one yet, as my truck is still stock.

Silly me.. I didn't even think of the belt. When I bought the truck my mechanic said I would have to change the belt sometime soon-ish. Since I should really do that anyway, I'll try that first. The squeal was definitely the same one you hear on beaters squealing all around town.

Thanks a ton!

I am pretty much 100% that it is your belt. It happens when your engine goes from nearly redline and rapidly slows down due to a shift. Just the belt slipping. My truck does the same thing when i goose it.

Yeah, I know I should just go grab one every time I think of it. I have a terrible condition, it's called forgetfulaziness.

Got a Gatorback on mine. Still squeals when shifting from 1st to 2nd 99% of the time. Even replaced the belt tensioner and idler pulley. Don't know what to do about it.

I would not stress it, my truck does the same thing only at WOT. Still running original belt and have been tuned for 6 years now, and have never had any other issues.
