Default Spinning Sound

Quick question for you guys. I have an 07 f150 and the past week I have started experiencing a spinning sound coming from the rear. It sounds like an object is spinning so fast it makes a loud whirling sound. This sound occurs any time I accelerate whether its 30mph or 70mph. I have revved the engine in park and no spinning sound occurs so maybe that eliminates the vacuum line? I'm not sure what the problem could be, so I was hoping I could get some suggestions before I take it in for service.

Thanks,
Phil

I would check the pinion and axle bearings first. They could be starting to go out on you. Just a thought.

I took it in and got it checked today and I will be going to get a second opinion on Tuesday. Long story short, they said that the rear diff had the wrong fluid in it and now the whole rear diff needs to be replaced. They want $6000 for the job to be done.

$6k for a ring and pinion? No. Just no. Definitely go somewhere else.

They said that due to the wrong fluid in the rear diff, it has caused it to grind together. They estimate 4,000 miles before failure. I'm going to try Aamco on Tuesday since I have time on that day.
