mileage transfer with the cluster so it will show whatever the other truck had on it, i just did this swap today, very easy and you should be fine with the fx2 gauge, search the cluster swap from bucko he did a very informative writeup about it

Just for future reference, it's not an "rpm gauge" it's a Tachometer. Unless you use your "speed gauge" to see how fast you're going.

Actually I think that he could use RPM Gauge, seeing as it reads the Rotations Per Minute. Might they be interchangeable in this case???

At least if we're going to correct him lets focus on the uses of punctuation and lack of capitalization.

your best bet to find out whats needed for swap out your non rpm-o-meter( )cluster for a cluster with a tach ...is to find the guy on here with the user name "bucko" and go to his profile and search his threads... hes got a few write ups about changeing it...

its a wonder he aint came on here and told you to use the search button actually

Use the search button.

But to answer the posters question specifically, the mileage of the replacement cluster is what you will now have in the "display" box". The FX2 and XLT clusters make good replacement swaps, depending upon your "taste" as to how the guages are laid out. Stay away from Lariat and King Ranch models, as they have the "auto climate control" Air Conditioning; this option routes through the clusters temp display, and prevents the AC compressor from engauging.

As mentioned in my writeup, you can loose functions, such as your interior lights coming on when you open doors, etc when you swap with certain clusters.

Read my lengthy post; I attempted to explain all these.

And for the record, it will cost you between $150.00 to $200.00 to have your mileage reflashed on the new cluster; there are some places that do this. I strongly recommend that you have the mileage flashed, as selling a vehicle with incorrect or tampered mileage is against the law, and carries a heavy fine.
