Default Speedo reads fast

My 2004 F150 FX4 speedometer reads 3-4 mph fast. The odometer reads correctly. I have used GPS navagators to confirm this. Any help on a solution to get the speedo reading correctly? I called the dealer and they said they could only repair/reprogram if they were both reading wrong.

I have the same issue, confirmed this with 2 different GPS units, My TomTom, and my hand held Garmin, My Speedo is reading out 5-6 miles fast on the highway.. Im running the same brand, model and sized tire that came on my truck when it was new... Maybe some one will have some insight on the subject... I was hoping when I got a programmer I could correct the issue with out getting the dealer involved.

as for the GPS you may want to read the disclaimer that comes with them, they state that they are only accurate to a certain margin, Thus making them not the right tool to measure your speed with. I too have a Tom Tom that reads 2-5 MPH off depending where I am. Fortunately I have a friend who is a police officer and had him clock me using radar. turns out my spedo is dead on. you may not have a friend who is an officer but you could try having someone follow you. however this is not going to be perfectly accurate either. may I suggest the next time you see one of the speed warning sign to check your spedo.

second, IMO I would just leave it, I'm not a very big fan of getting pulled over anyways.

I've compared it to a couple of those speed signs and they always agree with the GPS. The Tom Tom matches up with my wifes car, and my jeep I had before the F150.

are you sure the milage is correct then?

one would assume if your spedo is off then you milage would be off too.

the only way that I know of to adjust the spedo with a tuner is by tire size.

Almost all f150 speedometers register 2 mph fast.

I used to have a 98 explorer and now I have an 05 F-150. Both of these never had the same speed that my GPS showed. I thought maybe it was where I had the GPS located, turns out it wasn't. My GPS has been "accurate" in other vehicles.
