Default Speedo Error??

Anyone ever check their speedo???? Did a 350 mile day trip last weekend, all highway, had my portable Magellan GPS with me. Switched mode over to MPH and GPS reads slower than speedo shows! GPS is pretty darn accurate.. About 2.5-3 MPH off. I still have OEM wheels and tires and 3:55 gears, tires are 255's.. Honda/Acura just went thru- a lawsuit about this type of situation, we got a letter in the mail from Acura/Honda stating inaccuracies with the speedo and are extending the warranty on the wife's Acura.. Could Ford be facing the same situation??

If anyone else has experienced this, please report in..

Yep, mine too. I have read a lot of post with everyone saying the same thing. Mine reads 1 or 2 mph slower than what I'm actually going.

With most of tuners, you can calibrate the speedo..

True, but the gauges will show you precisely how fast you are going. I leave my Edge out of my truck most of the time, but I know I can go 3mph faster than what my speedo says!!! YES!!!!

i actually asked my dealer service rep about this and she pulled up a paper from ford showing that the speedo's are all off just a tad and even gave reason for this which actually made sense......i'll try to find and post later

I am thinking if it's reading slower than your actually going you will have less miles on the odometer in the long run. Plus less chance of getting a ticket. It doesn't bother me that it's a little off.
