You are correct.

Same in look but not internally. Motorcraft plugs are built to Ford specs which is a higher quality, correct heat range, lower failure rate than the Autolight specs.

I think everyone is missing the bigger picture here. Yes a one piece plug may be better coming out, but as long as you follow the TSB, use anti seize, and change at 50k intervals; there's nothing wrong with using Motorcraft plugs that are made for that engine.

Motorcrafts and Autolites come off of the same production line. They get a different stamp and get dropped into different boxes before they leave the production facility.

No, they are not the same. May be the same line but are not made together at the same time.

From another Ford site:
The Ford Motor Company launched the Motorcraft auto parts division in 1972 to provide quality replacement parts and original equipment parts. This brand replaced Autolite as Ford's official parts brand. Autolite is still a brand name in use today, but is now owned by Honeywell.
Many times, Ford will approach a contract manufacturer of a particular product (like Autocraft) and work with them to create a version for sale under the Motorcraft name. These products must meet high quality standards set by the Ford Motor Company in order to be considered for retail sale. This represents a good value to the consumer, as they get a high quality product at a fair price, backed by a major automaker.
A Motorcraft spark plug must meet Ford standards. An Autolite spark plug does not have to meet Ford standards.

Yes, they absolutely, 100%, without a shadow of a doubt are exactly the same.

I find it odd that the motorcraft plugs are basically the least expensive of all that are offered. Looks like they can be had for about $8 each. Best prices I've seen for all the others range from 10-13 bucks. I've seen plenty of places offering the champions for $20 each. Best prices I've seen were from sparkplugs dot com.
