The button on the gear shift is to turn it off if you are towing

correct me if im wrong but OD is just another gear above high gear. You should leave it on unless your going to be going up and down a lot of hilly terrain because it will cause extra shifting that is unecessary.

Just to clarify pressing the button turns overdrive off.

Well when I bought the truck it has a aftetmarket instrument cluster so when the light is on does that mean its on

i know on mine i have the original little display in the bottom right and if the OD is off the in says o/d off in little letters. i would assume if its lit up then it is off

Ty that makes sense I just had to rebuild my tranny I wonder if me not clicking that switch had something to do with me pulling trailer and not having it off hmmm....
