Doesn't matter what kind of car or spark plugs. Nobody should leave their plugs in for 100K miles or more. Change them sooner.

What's your point? Plenty of people changed before 100k and had plugs break.

What improvements did they make just in case one of us has to change one . What years would benefit?

The plugs are threaded all the way down the body. I've known a few people who put 08 heads on their 04-07's though it typically doesn't matter after you get the SP507 plugs out.

I got that notification in the mail the day after I went out and purchased the parts and the tool to do it myself, after reading up on here about some of the issues and costs associated with taking it to the dealer or a "authorized" mechanic I decided to just bite the bullet and do it myself. Took 8 hours but only 6 broken plugs later I had it done in my own garage and it only cost me about $75 since the tool was a loaner from the parts store.

That settlement sounded like a joke to me and was a complete waste of time to become part of, saved myself a hell of a lot of headache and time by not getting in on it and I am better off...

Default Here's a handy email address to harass them at

info@fordsparkplugsettlement.com

We had one truck that qualified as we replaced all plugs TWICE, another that didn't qualify but also ate plugs.

I've been emailing them every few months.

Feel free to let them know how you feel- if we don't receive a check by the Feb 2017 final deadline I'm going to start calling also.

I didn't know there was a settlement. My 08 started ejecting plugs and after the second one I had all eight fitted with the inserts. It was about $700... minus the $2.60 I hope to be getting soon.

Settlement was for folks who paid more than $400.00 to have their spark plugs replaced in 04-08 model years with 5.4L 3V engines, because of breaking off in heads when trying to remove, and not plugs that ejected from heads. However, read about a possible settlement for plugs ejecting from heads on 4.6L 3V, 04 or 05 to 07 or 08 model years. Don't recall the 5.4L 3V being mentioned under the ejection settlement, and can't remember what exact model year 4.6L 3V engines were covered, having read this information on another website quite a while ago. I do recall any 03 and older model years with the 4.2L 2V, 4.6L 2V, 5.4L 2V or 6.8L 2V engines wouldn't be covered under the plugs eject from heads settlement. Under either settlement though, the asses at Ford will most likely just mail you a "We're so sorry it happened to you." letter with and an IOU.
