Default spark plug issue - what years of f150

New to this forum and potentially new to Ford. i am looking at getting a 2007 or 2008 F150 lariat 5.4 with 45000 miles. Buddy told me to watch out for the plugs, could be an issue. now everything i have read on the issue all points to the 2006 year.
so my question is, what years does the spark plug issue apply?

How can i tell that the the date is before or after ( 5.4L 3-V and 6.8L 3-V before 10/9/07). is this the date of the engine or the date of manufacture of the truck. if it is the date of the truck, then it comes from the sticker showing date of manufacture. however, if it is from the motor, where is this date.

thanks.

The engine build date can be read on the left hand cam cover information sticker.
