I had no idea at the time about the problem but when I asked the salesman what was done at the last documented service, about a week before the purchase, he listed a few small things and a " compression check", which surprised me, but that told me the plugs had been removed. So I specifically asked "did they change the plugs while they had them out". And the response was "they should have" so I left it at that.
It just turned 100k so I went back to the dealership today to confirm whether or not the plugs had been changed. Of course the salesman has no recollection of "compression check" being mentioned but there was 2 of us there to attest to the fact. His offer was to have a tech remove 1 of the plugs to determine if they had been changed in the past.
Fords estimates the replacement of all 8 plugs, parts and labor and without any breaking off, to be $300. My offer was that I'd supply the plugs and they provide the labor for $300 regardless of how many they broke. Of course, he'll have to get back with me on that.
That deal sounds more than fair considering the "compression check" statement. What do you guys think????

Well, they agreed to my offer and offered me a rental car because they may have to keep it a couple days. I could probably have been a butt and made more serious demands but I sincerely believe that fairness is the best approach to maintaining a working relationship. Also my wife bought her new car there and religiously has them do all the service, won't let me touch it!!! I was a contractor for over 25 years and fairness kept me well feed. And I do not and will not bicker over money.

You're very lucky the dealership agreed to this. The class action suit does not pay for all labor a dealership may use to do the work.

Hope you got this in writing.

Still waiting for my check, I met all of the criteria and submitted more than 6 months ago. Anybody get anything yet?

If the plugs didn't break when getting replaced by dealer, does the situation still qualify? All other criteria is met from what I can tell.

There is no accurate "average." Too many variables.

$200 to $3500 would be a ball park average...

Thats a horrible average, how can it be such a huge difference. I mean ive done spark plugs before, I can understand these are special, but why would it EVER cost $3500.00??? I mean seriously who in their right mind would accept that charge?

Because... if a plug can not be extracted by other means the Head will need to be removed..
