Spark Plug ? on 2006 F150 4.6 V8
I have a 2006 F150 2WD with the 4.6 V8 (built 12/2005). I've owned it 1.5 years and put 10,000 miles on it. It had one previous owner, it was a Plant Managers company truck. It has 94,000 miles on it. I believe it may have the original factory installed spark plugs in it. It has a very slight miss at idle, is a little hard to start at times but runs great (uses no oil).
So I'm looking at changing the spark plugs. Am I correct that the MC plugs for this motor are MC Platinum SP-493? If so are those the plugs you would recommend? Also, based on what I've read this motor should not have the issue with broken plugs when they are removed, correct?
How hard is it to move what I believe is the fuel rails that are in the way of the plug removal?
Any input appreciated.
Thanks,
Mark

Start with the plugs and inspect the COPs and boots. SP-493 will work just fine. There's no breaking issue on the 4.6L, however we have seen a few blowouts on this motor. No anti seize on the threads and proper torque will fix that issue though. By proper torque, I mean above the recommended and back to what we do with the 97-03 motors with 28 ft/lbs. Plugs on these motors aren't hard, they just take some time, swivels, and extensions.
