spare tire removal
I purchased my 04 xlt just over a week ago. This week i went to put 5 new tires on it, but discount tire could not get down the spare tire. I am missing the jack and spare tire bar
I never even thought about making sure it was there because i dont understand why it wouldn't be.
is there any way of getting the spare tire down without going to the dealership?

Same Problem
I've got the same problem with my '03 F-150. There's some stuff out there about using a socket and drive extensions to get it lowered. Once you get it lowered, you can take off the "security key" POS that it came with. Will try to find the link for specifics on socket size, etc.

OP, there are different bed mounts available if that's where you want you spare.
Most people never use the bed from what I see anyway, plenty of space.

It also serves to place a small amount of weight in the back, helping traction during wintery conditions.
Personally, I like the spare tire under the bed; does not take up useful bed space, and a deterant against theft.
You should still have the jack and 3 bars. Helps to remove a flat tire situation.
