You must've hit the jackpot 'cause I called all the auto wreckers around in the lower mainland and not one of them had a spare tire kit for my truck. Dealer wanted over $130 or something absurd. eBay kits were $80+. So I made my own kit with 7/16 rod from Fastenal and I mount it to the hitch. Works perfectly well. I would like to retain the spare tire lock though, I have too many keys with too many locks on my truck. Two separate toolboxes, chains, etc.

Re: Spare Tire question
.
Sounds like this is another factory "hazard" similar to the "Exposed Cable in Left Wheel Well" thread.
.
After reading about the different problems formerly encountered I am going to BORROW a Ford spare tire release rod, remove mine and simply keep it locked in the (hard-covered) box beside a Hi-Lift jack.
Cover came with the (My First FORD !) truck.
Did NOT come with the rod nor jack but does have a small narrow, plastic funnel in the depression under the passenger-side rear bench seat (?).
