Default Finally got a nice day in Ohio!

Decided to wax the truck and as I was looking through my waxes (I've honesty never finished a bottle yet a have like 6 different kinds) I found my mcguires clay bar kit, and remembered a stage 2 roush mustang at the dealership I saw, paint was as smooth as glass, so I clay bared my entire truck, and then waxed it, looked so good I made my buddy come rub the stable (where I keep all my horses, the hood) LIKE GLASS love it!

Looks real nice and shiny. Going to have to do this soon. Is the clay bar better than buffing? Have a friend with a buffer that said he would do it for me.

Ya know I have a buffer that I used on my old truck and it did great, and never notified any difference when I tried the clay bar, but I think that's because the paint wasn't nice enough, it Just cleans all the crap that gets on there from the road that regular rubbing doesn't, I feel like it has more "grab" if that makes more sense

Clay bar is great for overspray, rail dust, tar, asphalt, things on top the paint. A buffer is better suited to remove circular scratches, rail dust that has embedded itself in the paint already, and other things that are in the clear coat or paint. If you buff it make sure you know what you are doing, if done wrong it will look worse.

OP truck looks great BTW. I will rub your stable if you rub mine. LMFAO.

I personally always use a claybar and then a light rubbing compound like Meguiar's ultimate Compound. I believe Meguiar's Ultimate Compound is the key to a good detailing, it takes so much off your car you never knew was there, I detail on the side so I've tried a lot and the stuff works amazing. Heres a pic:

My Dad's 2004 Trailblazer: All Meguiars products, Order: claybar, Ultimate Compound, Cleaner Wax, Gold Class Carnauba Paste wax (Left side=before, Right side=after)

My old Mustang that was regularly detailed
