Default Somebody has done it...

I'm looking for any kind of info or help from anybody (or somebody that has a friend, that knows a guy etc...) that has dropped a big block in a new body style f150 (04-08). Preferably a 460, 429, heck anything other than the new f.i. Computerized motors. Seriously thinking about dropping a 460 under the hood of my '06. Starting to source blocks and such. Saw a guy on YouTube with a '97 with a 460 but there's no way to contact him. Maybe somebody has experience. Thanks!

Why would you put a far less efficient, lower HP/torque far heavier lump in in place of an OHC engine?

There's a reason the restomodders are using FI engines in their rides, they're easier to work on, more reliable and take less maintenance.

I've seen a bunch of threads started about this topic, never saw anyone on here actually do the swap. (BTW, a stock 460 is a DOG!)

Who said stock? I'm not going for efficiency, I have a toyota for that. I'm going for gobs of low end torque and a sound and feel you can't replicate with the little pea shooter motor that's in it. I'm not asking for the pros or the cons.. I'm looking for that 1 in a million person that's dropped a ohv motor in this style truck. Main concerns are ignition and transmission hump etc.. And this is all being home built I'm not spendin 10k on a swap

I'm referring to volumetric efficiency (HP/L), not efficiency in terms of MPG.

I'm not trying to argue, I know it's not practical. But after the 4.6 took a dump on my the first time and I rebuilt it it's really bothering me the problems I am having with it. It's not worth the trouble. The truck stays sitting up now, it runs fine until it gets hot and starts ticking along with a loss of power. If I pull it, a 4.6 is not going back in there. Looked at getting a 5.4, just the long block was outrageous. I'm not making a street truck or a mud bogger, just something fun to take on as a project. Somebody somewhere has dropped a different motor in this trucks, there's a a coupled trucks I've seen and one has a bbc. I'm looking for someone like them.

I'd rather drop in a raptor 6.2 and put a whipple on it.

Lots of written off raptors around. I think you could find a low miles 6.2 with computer and everything for pretty decent value. You don't even need the supercharger unless you want to go all out. I think the whipple is about $7,000.00
