Guess it all depends upon one's tollerance level to "things that go wrong". After years of owning Dodges (all with gas powered engines. Couldn't afford a Cummins powered one), my tollerance level became VERY HIGH to problems. Seemed like I fixing something every time I drove them over over 30 miles.
My '04 F150 (first Ford) has the usual PITA problems that they all have and I grouse about all the time, but the truck, I think, is superior to the Dodges (w/ gas engines). The problems w/ the 5.4L / '04 F150 seem to be basic PITA stuff, stupid design mistakes that are fairly easy to rectify to make right and below the problems I had w/ the Dodges, like carrying around a spare tranny with me. I went thru 3 transmissions in 1 year (all under warrenty) in one of the Dodges. Must admit, though, I did like the manual heavy duty Warn hubs on my 4x4's Dana axles much better than the vacuum operated ones on my Ford.
Now the Cummins in a Ford (plus the addition of Warn hubs) idea sounds like a win - win, to me.

at least you didnt buy a gas jobbie dodge! you think the 5.4 was bad! lol, try owning a 3.7 or 4.7 dodge.... terrible

I find it funny how people never admit they bought a dodge. They all wanna say they bought a "cummins". Sorry but you bought a Dodge. Please don't be one of those dodge tools that drives around with hs mirrors flipped out when not even towing anything.

I dont think dodge even admits its dodge anymore.
They have separated the line and now they are called "Ram Trucks" lol
they are not even on dodges website????
And back to the 4.7 V8 thats in so many dodges....
Google "dodge 4.7 rocker arm"
its common for them to just fall off causing a misfire, ive fixed 3 or 4 of them and thats whats given me grey hair.
They use 3 rediculous timing chains and are a bitch to line up. usually the rocker arms fall off because valve seats in the head drop and holds the valve open.
The only fix is a new head, which would be fine if the timing system was not so freakin' awful.
.... ok sorry, enough dodge rant

i just switched from the cummins 12v to the 5.4. because a diesel was just far more than i needed for the near future. loved that engine and drivetrain. truck was nice but i do like the ford better in that department.

My dad had a 07 2500 cummins and that truck was awesome! He had it leveled out with 35's. Also had ranch hand front and rear bumpers and headache rack. He was one payment away from owning it and flipped it on Christmas day this past year. The headache rack saved his life. The truck did have suspension problems after he leveled it. It started to get the "death rattle" much like my old keep used get.
