A hard tonneau cover would give you a little better security because it will be more difficult to cut thru it. The soft cover could be cut with a razor knife and anything "hidden" underneath would be accessible to the thief. Also, if you get a lot of snow in the winter, a hard cover would handle the weight of the snow much better.

In the end, it will come down to what you really need/want if for anyway.

I have an Undercover hard cover on my work and personal trucks. I like it because it lets keep things in the bed dry and locked up if needed but if I need to in a minute I can take it off and hang it up.

i have a soft cover for these reasons: it doesn't add alot of weight, its exceptionally easy to roll up if i don't need it, and if I'm out somewhere with my truck and decide i need to use the bed for something tall, i can just roll the cover out of the way. over the hollidays I was at my uncle's house 2hrs away and he gave me a china cabinet that was about 6 feet tall. if I had a hard cover I would have had to drive all the way home, leave the cover there, then go back for the cabinet. If you decide to go with a soft cover, just make sure to get one that lays flat and uses integrated supports so that you don't have 10 ribs to store each time you roll it up. However, a hard cover is more secure, but the soft cover I have has locks. Check ebay, thsee are very easy to install yourself and cheap ($250-400). Let us know which way you decide to go...

Why not check out a hard retractable bed cover, best of both worlds lockable and they roll up. I just ordered a Retrax yesterday I'll let you know how I like it when it gets here.

X2! I have one on my truck as well. It weighs 58lbs and can be taken off by one persone, but it much easier with 2 people just because of the size of it. I have removed mine 3 times by myself in the 2 years I have had it on my truck.

I have the retrax hard cover and love it. It locks in any position, rolls up easy and has only four clamps if you have to remove it. It keeps the bed dry and can hold a lot of snow. I considered the soft roll up covers but I needed the security.
