Because I'm replying on my phone it doesn't show
I've never had my truck on the dyno[/QUOTE
And now no signature either, you would have probably gotten a better response if you would have just asked what other members dyno sheet says or something like that instead of saying "anyone can say anything", sounds pretty much like you are trying to call everyone out. Oh well, it's better than the debate on oil viscosity that normally happens a couple times a month, carry on, lets see where this thread leads.

Which, at the rear wheels, translates to approx 210 rwhp, and 240 rwtq, given the massive driveline losses, and the stock tuning not allowing the engine to even reach it's power peak above 5,000 rpm.
Even a mild custom tune @ 87 octane - yields significant improvements in part-throttle TQ any upper end HP. An agressive 91+octane custom perf tune will literally make this engine come alive. Lots of latent potential in the TQ curve on a 5.4L 3V. WOT shift points need to stay below 5400 rpm to keep the TC from ballooning.

My 210hp does pretty dang good pulling our 6000# TT

But - as shown in that plot, it's the area under the curve - even stock - that tells the tale. 3V and VCT plus a decent torque-based PCM strategy gets the job done. Nice breadth of power, over a fairly wide rpm range - just what a heavy-ayss truck with barn-door aeros requires.
Troyer, in his hey-day, was adding almost 60-80 ft-lbs of rwtq to a 5.4L 3V with 93 octane tuning. He really could work wonders with this platform.

Yep. Sad but true. The drivetrain is quite lossy - the 4R75E isn't all that efficient. Even worse fer a 4x4.

Like you said I think the 3v has a lot of potential you just need a tuner to unleash the beast. I had a edge on my last truck (2001 Supercrew 4x4 4.6L) and the thing was still a turd.

That's what I've read. The 4R75 eats up the Hp. I have the edge evo and on the canned tune #2 it made a pretty significant difference in all around performance. I'm looking forward to our first trip with the TT. I got the edge last fall after the TT was put away.

If you wanted to invest just a bit more into that Evo, get it converted to a Gryphon (free) and give Bill Cohron a shout over at PHP and get some custom tow tunes in various octanes ( 91+ preferred).
He's another bona-fide Wizard and you will notice definite improvements over yer canned calibrations (which he also had a large part in creating).
No such thing as too much capability when towing heavy
Cheers!

Never did much performance increasing on my truck, other than intake and exhaust. Extended bed, 4-door, 4x4, leveled, and with the amount of miles, not too concerned about it. My wife's Escape will run circles around my truck. lol Tried to red light her once, bad idea...

Loading up the TC before launch makes a significant difference in these trucks.
If not I find it very sluggish in the lower RPM range.
MGD,
Where you been?

Roger that, sir.

PHP doesn't do custom tunes for the Edge CS/CTS anymore.
