So the trucks at the dealer
#21
Well, I did mine at 65K
and I don't plan on messing with them again. I figure the next time is at 165K and with the new spark plugs, there should not be a problem. I don't know if it is worth messing with them once you get the new plugs.
But I am with NGM on this one, if you are going to go through the trouble of removing the coil packs and associated wiring and hardware, why not just swap the plugs and be done with it. This is based on the belief that the new plug is not suceptable to breaking.

I agree with NGM on this why not replace the plugs if you are going through the trouble of removing them. I think a big part of our problem is service tecs. not knowing what the heck they are doing these days and not checking their work once they have completed it. It is extreamly hard to find a service tec. today IMO.

Resident A-hole
The problem with waiting 100k as recomened is the gap gets bigger as the plug wears and this puts more pressure on the coil to produce a spark hot enough to jump the gap. This causes premature coil failure.

yeah Premature coil failure leads to an unhappy wife or girlfriend which in turn leads to her finding a younger coil that lasts longer!!

I hear you wesbilly. I am lucky I have an ex- Ford tec. that has his own shop thats very good to do the tough jobs for me, and he's cheap! He replaced the stock Eaton S/C on my 03 Cobra with a Kenne Bell for $400.00. He swapped turbos on my Porsche For $300.00; he is awsome. The Ford dealers in my area have tecs. that are very un-techy! You know the old saying "if you want something done right, do it yourself" its TRUE!
