Well motorcraft redid there plugs to a 1 piece setup, so i went back to motocraft.

I have always like motorcraft plugs, but with the 3V I am thinking about trying the brisk multi plugs. I think Troyer recommends them.

Hope your truck comes back soon fit as a fiddle.

The only downfall with using those plugs is if they fail when a dealer does the work they wont warranty the work.

Default Dealer calls...

So now it is $389 to get the plugs changed... and get this... $42 American for EACH plug that does break. And the new plugs are designed for one piece, so they won't break in the future. There will be no future, at 165K the truck will be at the end of its life for me.

having to pay 300 bucks every 30k to have plugs changed is ridiculous to say the least.

Default No good deed goes unpunished...

Well, picked up the truck from the dealership and lo' and behold it runs worse now than it ever has. $389 and now I got the dreaded cylinder one misfire. Got the code read at Advanced, as the dealership was closing before I could limp back up there to get it checked. Not good though- couldn't have left it due to not having a ride. Coming up a hill at 55/60, it shuddered and the engine light flashed several times. Darn trying to be one step ahead...

and on the only positive note, no broken plugs, but now I wish I'd waited to 100K.

I figure now I can go a 100k, that would be 165K, and never worry about it again.

wondering about something... I have heard about the 5.4 spark plug problem back when i was a service advisor.. but if a f150 owner was wanting to prevent that could they just take and unscrew the plugs every 30K and put that anti sieze goop on there? or at least just unscrew a few turns and then tighten up again. I mean if the plugs are in good firing condition why pay for new ones. Just a thought!

Well i dont see why not in that case. why not just yank them out and take them to a wire wheel and reinstall them?

I think we could be on to something here.

Just my .02 on that. By the time you remove the coils, pull the plugs put antiseize on them and re-install them why not just spend the money to replace them. I think 30k is a little excessive. I do mine at 50k. I don't have the new plug, but getting to them is just as much of a pain.
