Hi
So yes this cluster swap has been "covered", but I don't know if this scenario has.
My STX 4.6, auto has the tach, and gauges. But I prefer the look of the FX4. Does it have the outside temp. option or compass?
I know where that temp sensor resides.
Sorry to hijack, but some good info here.

Well, I went ahead and bought a Lariat Cluster off of eBay. Screamin' deal! And, if I get it and can't make it my b**ch, I'll put it back on eBay. Doesn't hurt to try it out. Still need to get the message center switch and harness, but I'll see what it can do right out of the box.

So I got my Lariat cluster in the mail today, and........

New Lariat Cluster for my XLT

As expected, the A/C clutch doesn't engage, because I have manual HVAC controls, I also don't have the message center buttons, yet, so I can't verify the Miles till Empty or average MPG modules, are working. Everything else (compass, outside temp, interior lights, door chimes, etc) and all the lights and gauges, works perfectly!

If someone runs across this who has had a dealer successfully flash their donor Lariat cluster who are using manual A/C controls, and had the A/C clutch work, please let me know!! Otherwise, I don't use AC much anyway, even during the hot Montana summers, so it's not a HUGE trade-off.
