Default slightly above normal oil pressure on my 2006 5.4

This started yesterday heading home from work normally my gauge stays in the middle it stayed there until I got about half way home and it my oil pressure started climbing to the high mark did it this morning on start up the oil only has about 2,500 miles on it still fairly clean. The gauge doesn't move at high rpms stays at the mark before the H on my gauge. What is causing this and could this be catastrophic for my truck? Being it's my daily driver any help would be greatly appreciated

See what everyone else says but the factory gauges on these trucks are basically just a glorified light. Goes to the middle if you have pressure or drops if you don't. Bad gauge? I'm not sure if the sending unit could cause it though.

The oil pressure gauge in the 11th gen isn't really a gauge. Think of it as a light as Heath said. If the gauge is above zero, oil pressure is at least 7psi. If the gauge is at zero, oil pressure is less than 7psi. There is no in-between since the sending unit is simply a switch that is either closed or open, not a potentiometer like a real pressure sending unit.

I'm not sure if this would work or not but I would verify your instrument reading by going into the HEC (Hybrid Electronic Cluster) Dealer Test Mode on your instrument panel. You can do a web search or search this site on how to perform the dealer test mode on your instrument panel. Lots of info on the web.

Some info on this website (scroll down to the last post on first page).

Could it be the oil pressure sensor on the oil pan going bad in it?
