sounds like my hub did when it went bad, but it was a drivers side leak that made the passenger side sound like yours. You need a vacuum tester to really figure it out though.

Interesting.... I'll take a look. Maybe my buddy missed something when he put it back together after installing the level. Definitely sounds bad, though.

Well, the grind goes away when I engage 4wd. Sounds like I'll be replacing a hub.

Maybe, but you really need a vacuum tester to be sure. You could have a leak in your vacuum lines or your vacuum accumulator that could give you the same effect. Rent or buy a vacuum tester (like the mityvac) and verify that your IWE's are not holding vacuum before dropping $250 on new parts.
