Should I buy an 07 5.4
I'm currently in the market for a new to me Ford F-150 and I came across an 07 with the 5.4 triton. I've heard several mixed opinions from the internet and my friends about this motor. It has 144xxx miles and I'm just trying to figure out whether I need to keep looking around or if this truck is worth the buy.

If you are considering, get a good maintenance report and test drive it. Do some research on common problems and the unique sounds that some of these problems can make. Just an FYI. My 07 5.4 just rolled 188k.

That's what I'd planned on doing, I just wanted a little more insight before I looked into it anymore. And that makes me feel bettter haha does it still run pretty good?

No doubt. Still plenty of pep
I've only had a couple of parts failures which, at it's age, I expect.

Op, I agree on getting maintenance records. Also when you test drive it listen for any abnormal noises such as ticking, knocking and so on.

This is not true. I have a 2005 5.4 and I love the truck. But the 5.4s have problems. Everyone knows this. There have been plenty of cases of well properly/ maintained 5.4s on here that have had major problems.

Well, anything in the world will have failures of some sort. If you look at it that way. If something finally fails inside my block, I open it up and replace it. Back on the road. Unless your vehicle sits in the bottom of a lake or bursts into flames, it should always be fixable.

Some people say the 5.4's burst into flames at the bottom of lakes.
Yeah, they have known issues. There's always gonna be bad apples, but I honestly think it's a good truck. Just do lots of research and dig into the trucks history. Maybe even find someone who's well versed in that motor, to come along. If you want, report back with anything you may have noticed. This site is full of people who know these motors inside and out.
