Default Should Get My Truck Back Today... Tranny Issues...

The service guy just called... Said it will be ready today. They had to fully rebuild the tranny and put new gears in the rear end... I have 2 days to back out of the truck after I get the truck but we are leaving for vacation in the morning so I guess I am gonna keep it... They are warrantying the tranny/rear end stuff on top of the dealer 30 day warranty...

We shall see how it goes...

Wow man... That sucks.

Mind me asking how many miles were on the truck when you bought it?

85K miles... Guess that's what I get for always buying higher mileage vehicles... That's mostly all we buy... LoL

I will have the tranny warranty in writing, no doubt!!!

Only 85K? That's not high for a 2004. It averaged 14.5k per year. That's normal mileage.

Anyway. That seems odd that something would have grenaded in your driveline causing the rear end AND tranny to **** the bed.

Don't let an 85K vehicle stop you from buying...to me, that's not even broke in yet!

My last vehicle was a 1984 Volkswagon Vanagon camper. Bought it in Germany while on a 5 year training job. It had 223K on it's original 1.9 liter water cooled (just the heads). Brought it back to the states and put another 5K on it before I traded it in on my current truck; 2005 F150; it had 82K when I purchased it. It did not have AC, and Texas was too hot in the summer without AC.

I doubt I'd ever buy new again. I hate the idea that I loose over $5000.00 as soon as it's titled to me and I drive off the lot!

What's weird is there is BARELY any scratches on the paint, interior is near flawless also... Truck doesn't look like it has 25K on it... Was a heck of a steal too...

We bought from carmax and they did show us where it was titled in a storm area at some point, but swear they do not sell storm affected vehicles... Unfortunately now I have no time to take it to my mechanic for a look...

Here's my highest mileage purchase...
1985 Volvo 760 Turbo Sedan. 333k on it when I bought it, 380k when I sold it three years ago. Guy is still driving it.

Sorry Tx... /threadjack.
