Default Shift Interlock Solenoid - How to replace?

Recently, I could not move the shifter out of park.

I've gone through the majority of the diagnostics with the BPP switch and isolated the issue to the shift interlock on the console. I do have 12v at the break peddle switch when the break is pressed.

I took my Screw FX4 to Ford and they want $500 to replace the entire assembly which does not make sense.

I'm looking for a recommendation on how best to remove & replace this part.

I don't know if this will help but you may want to watch it.

I just worked on mine. Not a bad job at all. To drive the truck all you need to do is pop the top of the console and you can manualy depress the soleniod in order to get shifter out of park. To repair, I just removed the soleniod and was able to repair it. The transistor on the board is more than likely the culprit. This can fail open (which will give the symptom you have) or fail shorted which will allow you to put truck in gear without depressing the brake peddal (and will cause the cruise control to fail). I replaced the transistor and that fixed mine. A couple of bucks. If you decide to tackle it on your own, I can talk you through it.

I'm am having trouble with mine also. Can shift without keys or brake but my cruise worked. so i took it apart (in console) Had two wires broken and the plastic fork that engages the shifter. The top finger of the fork broke. So fix the wires and epoxied the plastic fork. All back together and now the cruise won't work. The shifter will not move out of park until the key is turned. Not the brake.I watched the soleniod and it trips with the key. so what is the problem and what switch ia actavated with the brake.. 2004 f150 lariat
