Default shift handle

So in my 05 lariat with the console shift, my shift handle, the top chrome part is peeling and it scratches my hand every time I use it. I found a couple online, but for one, I dont even know how to get the thing off, and 2 do I have any other options? Or do I have to use that one. Thanks

Are you talking about the circle chrome piece on top of the shifter? Mine began lifting up not so long ago, but it hasn't come off yet. It looks like you could play puppet with it...

PS: There was a thread about fixing this, but I forgot about it, and plus I want to fix it, but there are other things that keep me side-tracked.

From a post by cosmos, a forum member, hope it helps:
Mine came loose (bent on one clip) and I glued it back. If I remember correctly, there are 4 snap-clips, they're thin plastic and break or bend easily. Once that happens, they don't clip in place and come loose.

I can't understand why one would replace the whole handle!? The worst thing that could happen is you lose all 4 clips, then glue the whole cap on! LOL!

If you can go w/o it, I can get it coated up like the black on my truck. Check my build thread. Perhaps we can horse trade for some more led's
