seat belt retractor

seat belt retractor
My F150 passenger's side seat belt retractor (mechanism in the back of the seat) is not working. It is stuck and can not be pulled to be used.
I opened up and could not see anything wrong (no broken parts visible) .... if I remove a very tiny plastic piece next to the inertia mechanism (steel ball) - I can pull the belt and spring would roll it in back onto the wheel. However, in that situation on a sudden pull (like when the belt should be frozen) - belt of course nicely is released... ie inoperative seat belt.
How to fix it!?
Thanks

I have a 2005 with the same problem. I've found similiar situation on these forum with older models and newer models than ours but ours seems a lot different. To begin with it looks like the seat covers need taken off. Did you ever figure the solution to the problem?
