Seafoam fixing a misfire?
2006 F150 5.4L here... Had the common issue of misfires happening at low rpm in OD while going up a hill. It was getting pretty bad and the flashing CEL came on a few times. I was going to just go ahead and change the plugs and coils, and threw a can of Seafoam in half a tank of gas - I had read that it could help with the plug extraction... So I've burned through half the tank and... the misfiring problem is gone!!
It had been going on for months and was NOT intermittent - it would happen like clockwork on every hill on the freeway. But the last couple days I simply can't get it to misfire. Anybody else have this situation, or at least offer an explanation? Thanks!

Hello - vehicle has 120k miles on it. I got it about 2 years ago and it had about 100k miles at the time.
The engine was largely rebuilt before I purchased it (plugs, cams, phasors, various other components replaced and the whole thing disassembled and cleaned). Coils weren't replaced though...
The aforementioned problem started at about the 115k mark...

Wonder if it cleaned your fuel pump... do you use sh***y gas? What is your primary brand?

Maybe?? That's one thing I was wondering... what exactly causes that low RPM misfire when in OD? I know it's a common problem (from reading forum posts) but I've never seen an explanation of what is happening exactly. Is it fuel supply issue, or a spark/coil issue - most solutions I've read about involve the plug/coil.
I'm in Canada and we don't really have the sh*tty gas brands that I've seen in the states (I usually use Chevron or Esso [that's Exxon]).

Usually plugs and coils. The plug or the coil just can't produce the proper electricity or arc to heat the vapor and ignite the mixture. Stick with the Chevron / Esso / Exxon.

Just did another 60 mile test drive... lots of gradual slopes that used to throw her into a herking jerking fit. Still smooth as butter. I guess I'll be returning the 8 coils I bought! Cha-Ching!

Don't do that yet. Wait until this tank is fully gone and you fill up without SeaFoam, then run through like half of that tank.
