I don't know if they are related or not, but in my experience, adding seafoam to the crankcase won't hurt.
Seafoam is basically Naphtha and a few other pale oils. Not something that's great for the crankcase. If you think you have a varnish/sludge problem that is causing the tick then there are some good products we can recommend. If the phaser is faulty, there's no mechanic in a can that will fix it.

Would I run the risk of locking my engine up? You know breaking all that stuff loose and it getting into some critical engine parts I would think would be a very real potential danger. If not please let me know. Im wanting my baby to run as long as she can on the original drive-train.
No you probably won't lock up the engine with slight sludge. If your sludge is severe, then it could screw it up.
Did you quiet your ticking with the solenoid swap? Is that why you changed it?
Also, was the torx screw a T27?

What would you recommend? The fact that it seemed to quiet down originally makes me think that it might not be anything too serious. I might just have a little buildup going on. I just bought the truck in January with 74,000 miles on it, and there is no telling what kind of oil was used. I have only used Mobil 1 full synthetic since buying, as I've heard from a mechanic friend that it is one of the best. I'm hoping the better quality oil with the seafoam is slowly cleaning the engine. Advice?

Mobil is a good oil for the price. It does a decent job of cleaning, but if there's buildup there it's going to take a long time to get at it. If you want to go the slow route, switching additive packages in the oil is a good start. An oil like Penz Ultra would be a good choice for that or switching to a sodium based add pack like Valvoline or Mobil Super 5000.
If you want a faster way to see if it is varnish, Kreen is the only faster method I recommend. Search Kano labs for the full scoop on it. If there is any build up the Kreen will be sure to get it. It doesn't give up lubricity like the naphtha in Seafoam does, works better than the solvents in other products, and doesn't affect the seals. Sorry if that part sounds like a shill, but it's one of the few products that has been proven to work and actually belong in the sump.

I did replace the vct due to the ford tick. I only replaced the one on the pass side of the engine. No it didn't even help a little. I'm going to replace the other side and see what happens. Hopefully It will help. Other then cam phasers that is all I can think of to do. I may also put sea foam in the crank case to see if it helps as well.
