Beautiful grill but I don't think I'd pay $300 for it

I've had my grill for a couple years, got it back when it was $170 or so shipped. Wanted something other than chrome.

OP here. I slept on it, and decided to cancel my order. It was way too much money for just a grill.

I would agree with everyone that the $300 is too high, you guys that have them already must be proud lol. I wanted one to the point I almost ordered it while I was searching for a truck a couple years ago. My truck is an fx4 luxury so it has the ptm grille, I am not getting rid of it. It's not as tough-looking as the saleen but its a cleaner look than the regular textured or chrome grilles.

I saw one today and man, they are nice! I guess I'll stick with my FX2 grill for now.

The issue here is they are restarting production due to demand. The more of something produced, the cheaper they can produce them. These are basically being ordered specifically for the amount of people who want them, and maybe some more. So a small quantity order the price will be higher of course. To combat this with a "boycott" would be counterproductive for the people who are calling Saleen asking these grills to be produced. You don't request an item be produced and sold specifically for you, and then try to boycott the price. Saleen was doing just fine not selling these grill for the past however long it's been until people started bothering them about selling them again.

They know people will want them, and they know most will pay for them if they really want them. Others will say that's too much money and not do it, like me. But I'm not calling Saleen begging them to start producing a discontinued part again.

That being said, I had a 2002 Saleen S281 SC and one of the wheels cracked, and apparently this is a known problem. It took months to get me new wheels. Delays, service rep forgetting about my wheels, relocating warehouses, all sorts of excuses. Eventually they had to send me a set of silver wheels because they couldn't get chrome ones like my car came with. Took about 6 months. Never dealing with Saleen again

Thank you for the lesson in economics there sir, I think we all understand supply and demand. No one is calling Saleen and so called "bothering" them as you put it. We called to simply inquire about the production of the grille and they had an option to be contacted via a "back order" list or "wait list."

We understand the limited production run based on requests but there is no reason for them to jack the price up $120 per grille plus shipping. I can understand a possible $50-$60 increase but over $100 is rediculous. However they can charge what they want in this situation because they have us all "by the *****" however, it looks as though they will be told by all of us that it's too much money. They may then reconsider and contact us all with reduced price. This is all good. Also your wheel situation has no reference to this discussion but thanks for sharing.

How can you say what is reasonable when you do not know their cost? And when people are saying boycott an item that was discontinued, and people are requesting the company to make it again... Obviously there are people who do not understand the economics and how supply and demand work.

A discontinued item = no supply
customers calling requesting said item to go back into production = demand

saying boycott item that was only put back into production because of demand = MAKES NO SENSE

The business can sell them for whatever they want, the item is worth what people will pay them for it. If they sell 100 for $300 each, or 200 for $150 each their gross is the same... But what is the cost? Have you priced out a Harley grill? Why don't you ask Ford why they want $600 for a grill.

I wouldn't say $300 is a lot. You are getting a OEM quality piece. I understand it doubled in price but it's not that bad.

Looks at it this way, 2003 Harley grills cost 600 new back in 03 and still go close to $300 USED

The billet grill i put on my 03 was $200 and not nearly the quality of the Saleen piece.

The 2012 6bar grill i just put on my truck, I paid $200 USED and $100 to paint.

Grills are one of the biggest appearance changing things you can change on a truck. $300 to me is well worth it.
