I just did that to my running boards, the prep would be relatively the same if you want to do it yourself. But for the front bumper I would recommend doing something tougher than the rattle can stuff I used for the running boards. Line-X if you have the money or use the new Duplicolor Bed Armor stuff, I've heard nothing but good things about that.

Also definitely a +1 on the POR15, that's what I used on my 67 mustang and what many classic guys use to protect their cars instead of rubberized undercoating.
