Running boards seem to be installed to close to the truck

Default Running boards seem to be installed to close to the truck
I have a 2006 Supercrew with OEM running boards. They seem to be position a little to close to the the truck (lengthwise). I can just get my foot on the step to get in and out of the truck. Is there a way to move them out away from the truck about an 1/2 to 1 inch?

you can modify the brackets, i used to have that issue when i wore steel toed shoes for work, simple fix if you have a welder.
