Default running boards pitting already??

hello, i have an '08 screw, a little over a year old, with chrome running boards that are pitting on top on both the driver and passenger side.
I try to keep the salt off the best i can during the winter, and am pretty good about it, so, whats the deal? This is only her second winter.
is there anyone else with this problem?

Mine are pitted but that is from brutal contact with mud and large rocks

DP is on the right track...contact the dealer.

What the other two said; take the truck back, have them replaced under warantee.

Mine are black. No issues with pitting, but then again I'm not fighting snow and salt conditions either.
