RPM jumping when accelerating on cold mornings
So my truck has been running great but recently in this cold weather if I accelerate too hard before my engine is completely warmed up the rpms will rev up and down very violently until I let off the throttle. It feels as if I'm flooring it and then letting off very rapidly. I have been ignoring it because I usually don't punch the throttle in the morning but I went to pass a car the other day and nearly got into an accident because it wouldn't go anywhere! Also I live in Florida where cold weather means 50 degrees! So I cannot tell whether it is the engine, transmission slipping, or what! Also my plugs were changed 15000 miles ago, truck has 75000 now, new air filter, maf cleaned, fpdm changed, oil etc. Anyone ever heard of this rpm "surge" on a cold truck? Anything to save a trip to the dealership!
