For the past couple of months, about 1 out of every 3 starts, the engine will struggle to start. This started happening after I got the P0420 code (catalytic converter). I shut it off with a handheld and it has reappeared since.

Whats strange though is now, about 1 out of every 10 starts its much worse. When I start the truck, it will be a very rough start and the gauges will take 10 seconds or so to get to normal. They (tach, speedo) will just sit there and shake and then go to normal.

I have read somewhere where a bad cat could cause rough starts. Should I look there first?
