Rough Idle but Vacuum solid at 24 in.
Continuing to track down what the rough idle is caused by. Today was MAF and TB cleaning with the CRC midget pack from amazon...Also cleaned out the plastic tubing from the fender. Made new foam seal around the air filter since it was deteriorated, and refreshed the rubber gasket with some spray treatment I use on door gaskets. Wiped everything down and air dried all parts. No chance of contamination to MAF sensor (I removed it before cleaning the plastic). Idle a bit better but still goes into what I call 'rough mode' when hot. If it's the phasers (solenoids are new with 280-B), then I will live with it. Just don't know why sometimes it idles well and sometimes it doesn't? 10W30 w/MC filter inside makes it happy for now, doesn't like the MC 5W20. Also, one strange thing, I think it takes too long to come back to idle speed when I goose it in park...is this a symptom? I was hoping for a vacuum leak but I get great vacuum (have Torque Pro), and it says great gas mileage...(forgot..used three bottle of techron w/10 gallon tanks)...Haven't done COPS or plugs..rarely misfires (2 or 3 on long 20 mile trip).

2004 F150 SCab 4WD 184,000 miles. 5.4L of course..looks like it was an old guys truck in Maine and was taken care of aside from the rust. It's well used with plenty of blemishes and wear but little things I see point to its previous like (Gasket to hood from air box repaired, Solenoids were original but clean and intact, oil was fair, not dirty, motorcraft battery, interior clean not perfect nut not worn for the miles. Body has rust that was fixed and looks decent but it has surface rust here and there,

With 184k miles I would do a plug change with new boots and springs.. Go from there.
