Default Rims and Tires

I'm looking to replace my rims / tires for the summer and it got me wondering. What would be a good size tire for a 22" rim without putting a lift on?

Do you have a level or no kind of lift at all? Another words, the same height as it left the factory? Is your truck a 2wd or 4x4 ? If it is 4x4, and factory height you could go with a 275/45/22 which is a 31.7 x 10.8 which is almost exactly what size tires came stock on my 06 FX4 but in a 20" wheel.

You should be able to slide by with a 33 inch tire being that the oem tire is 31-32 inches..

At the moment I have no lift or leveling kit on it and I have a LT275/65/R18 tire on.

If it is 2wd I would go with the one I mentioned earlier. If a 4x4, then like Kingranch says you can probably go with a 33. A 305/45/22 is a 32.8" x 12.0".

305/40/22 works on a 2wd with out any issues. 12.3 at 31.6

Been there, done that.

There you go...real world knowledge OP. It also would depend if you want a wider tire or a taller tire. A max for a 4x4 is 33x12.5 with no level.

Thanks for all the help! Now all I need to do is find a rim that I like. I was thinking about getting a "flashy" set just for the summer, but I feel like that would be a little pointless for three months out of the year.
