Reverse Only!
CALLING ALL TRANNY GURUS OUT THERE!
Here's what I've got. It all seemed to start the other day on my way to work (about 6 miles) when it seemed like, at about 60 mph that my tranny started slipping (RMP increase without speed increase). I made it to work okay, worked my 24 hr shift and headed home. I decided to stop by the parts store on my way home and pick up some of that "stop slip" stuff made by Lucas, put it in and continued my drive home (about 3 miles). I got a mile or so down the road and lost everything but reverse. I eventually had to put it in 4 low to get it home at about 12 MPH. I got it into my driveway (a very slight hill) and it all but completely quit. To get it to move at all I was running it at 3k rpms. Put it in reverse and backed right in with no problem. I read somewhere on here that it could be the output shaft sensor. No one around here had it, so I went ahead and ordered it from the local (mentioned and badmouthed in another thread) stealership for about $30. Well, I had a brainstorm and decided I would pull the one out of my wife's Expe and swap them to see if it changed anything in either vehicle. No luck. Started pulling the tranny this afternoon. My question is...what it the likely cause inside the tranny? AODE in my '05 5.4 4x4 SCrew. I know I'm going to put a rebuild kit in it, but what else will I probably be replacing? The TC? Oh and does anyone know where I can find "exploded" views of this tranny? I've rebuilt an AOD before, just not and AODE. Any advice? Suggestions? All are welcomed other that the usual "take it to the tranny shop." I trust NO ONE else to work on my truck, so that's out of the question. OH yeah, and I've already changed the fluid and filter in a long shot attempt to fix this. Thanks guys, in advance.

Yeah i was gonna say clutch as well. Mine did the same thing but opposite, it would not go into reverse very well and was extremely slow to get going. So its probably ur clutch.

So what should I say to the guy on another forum that I posted this exact same ? to that said "An 05 doesn't have an AODE. I believe it's a 4R75E."? Isn't the 4R75E a version of the AODE or am I completely off base here? The filter kit I bought for it was for an AODE as described by Advance Auto, and incidentally matched up to the one that came out of it.

**Update**
Got it pulled out and sitting on my patio table ready for me to tear into it tomorrow when I get home. I'll update this and let y'all know what I find. Anyone got any good source for cheap, good quality parts and rebuilt kits?
