Where'd you get your emblems? Was it a direct swap? Like did the little alignment sticks line up with our stock holes?? The new emblems look 100x better

Hi.

Wait a bit on the wrenches - give 'em a call ASAP.

Hear-tell their shipper lost a whole truck of packages recently - yours could have been among the affected.

Plus - they are/were in the middle of a move, and have the SS ballast recall thing goin' on, a massive group buy just finished -plus regular business. They are stretched purty thin. Reckon no one there is getting much sleep

Took a while to get my stuff too. Hang in there - don't hesitate to contact them.

Good luck

So I appear to have jinxed it. My brackets and projectors arrived last night shortly after my last post. The new bulbs should be in soon too (I'm replacing my 8000k bulbs with 5000k to get the true HID look)

I began to take them apart to prep the reflector bowl or the cuts I need to make to place the new retro-quik bracket on it tonight. I'll post a few more photos tonight of the cuts that I made, then this weekend I'll be baking, opening, and replacing the projectors on my headlights!

My bowls have been trimmed and everything's been reassembled. Now I just have to wait for the weekend!

Well guys. This was quite the adventure. Took me all day (literally started 12 hours ago and just finished maybe 45 minutes ago).

So here we go.

Started the day off super easy, only had them in the oven for 4 minutes on 240 because I was extremely nervous about this part. Fortunately they used a really cheap glue, I probably could've just peeled it and cut it with an olfa knife without putting it in the oven at all, but it definitely made it easier.Retrofit Into Specd Headlight-photo1.jpg

Here's a comparison of the two projectors (old crappy Spec-d vs. MH1)

And then the troubles began. I got the old projectors off no biggy and really liked the way things were going. So I prepped the new ones by installing the little plastic thing that the adjustment screws screw into, and then began to install. I then realized that the brackets that TRS had given me were quite a bit too small.

The adjustment screw holes were too close together so when I got it in the screws looked like this

and I didn't like that at all..
But I figured it worked so I continued on, then to discover a new problem. The little pivot at the top of the projector was way off from where my original projector had it, so I was forced to drill a new hole for the screw, but then soon came to realize that it would be too far away from the projector to do anything at all. (this is the part that moves the projector up and down when adjusting)

If I had kept it this way, I'd forever be blinding oncoming traffic, and cops would definitely handing me tickets seeing as my truck's already lifted and they tend to like to bug us the most.

So I had to come up with a solution! I found a scrap piece of metal and decided to build my own brackets. I had spent most of the hours on the brackets alone, cutting, then filing it down to the perfect size. What I did is I took my old projector bowl, traced it, then cut out the metal. I then traced all the holes and then cut them out (roughly) and spend many hours filing them down to size. In the end, I wound up with a bracket that looked pretty good (not perfect), but it worked a whole lot better than the one TRS sent me.
Just as a side note: I don't blame TRS too much for this issue as I can imagine it would be pretty difficult to make a bracket to fit every aftermarket headlight (still upset that I spent $35 on brackets I'll never use). But whatever.
Anyways, the brackets worked like a charm! I was too busy trying to get everything done to take pictures, but I did remember to take some before sealing it back up!

And now she's all sealed up and ready to be put back on in the morning! Cut off pictures to be posted tomorrow night.
