Default Resealing thirs brake light help?

I have searched on the forum but could never get a strait forward answer that I was looking for. Where exactly do I put the silicone when resealing the third brake light? Does it go where the seal is under the light or around the top of the light where it meets the truck? Thanks in advanced

I can only think of three ways. First, is to apply a bead of silicone all along the gasket.
Second, is the lazy way and put a bead all around the light while it's still mounted to the truck.
I made a gasket, so I wouldn't be struggling to just change out a bulb.

when i ran wires through mine for my light rack, i put some on the gasket and then put it in screwed it down and ran a bead across the top and down the sides so there was no gap. never leaked.

Thanks. I think I'm gonna try to put a bead on the gasket and see what happens. Do you guys think like a clear liquid nail would work?

Just curious, how did you make a gasket? I'd like to not permanently seal mine as well incase I need to change my bulbs again later

I posted this in another thread some time back:
My light was leaking - leaked onto the rear seat directly behind the driver. The factory gasket had shrunk and moved. I went to Lowes and bought some 3/8" wide weather stripping that was sticky on one side only. Made a new gasket with this and placed it on the light with the adhesive. It has sealed the leak completely.

Even tho Ford should correct this issue, the fix is easy and only takes a few minutes to do. The weather stripping cost a few $$$$. No more leaks.
Edit: Silicon will make a good seal but will make bulb changes more difficult in the future.

Just had a thin piece of foam and traced out the gasket.
In actuality, my original light never leaked. It was the tinted aftermarket one that ended up leaking.
