2.5" in/out, you will need some 2.5" pipe also to make up for the monstrosity you are removing. When I did mine I bought 2 18" pieces and the muffler.

Where would I get the extra piping, does the muffler shop usually provide it or is it better to get it seperate? I also notice some mufflers have the off set in/out or straight through, which do our trucks need and what size, i see a few.

The ones Magnaflow sells as complete systems are 5" x 8" x 18" So I would Assume I'd get the same size..... But I wonder which would be quieter the 18" or the 20"...

THANKS!!

I have a 18" magnaflow and it's not that loud but has a great tone and I just let the shop put some extra pipe in. Then I just went home and painted all the exaust black for a nice clean look

Do a lot of people change out "just" the muffler? I mean is it that much of a difference from the full system? I know its 1/2" bigger but does it really matter with just basic mods, I have intake and tunes. Stock its just dangerously slow so I want a little more power. I live in NY and merging onto parkways are always scary because nobody lets you go and the power in acceleration just isnt there stock.

Have you crawled under the truck and looked at the stock muffler? It could be cut in half and used as a horse troft. Seriously, it will remove about 30 pounds of weight when replaced with a turbo muffler.

When my favorite muffler shop installed a replacement muffler on my truck, they cut the stock one off; it fell to their shop floor and chipped a large piece of concrete from their floor. The guy then asked if I wanted to keep it; I laughed and said no.

It is a huge, baffled system. Putting in just a turbo style muffler will provide a much free flowing exhaust; add to it a dual out (if that's your taste). The stock pipes are good flowing on their own, but going with mandral bending (no inner restriction) will provide the utimate flow if your pocket book is full enough to pay.

If you're looking for a muffler long enough for to completely fill in the hole the stock one's gonna leave you're gonna need about a 6 foot muffler!

No seriously, the muffler shop will handle all the extra pipe needed to fill in the space left by the long *** factory muffler.

Oh and Bucko's right, mandrel bends are awesome. The only problem you may find is, the average muffler shops don't mandrel bend, they crimp bend. May have to find a more high performance style shop.

I priced the OEM muffler on-line, it's about $400!
