Default Replacing front shocks with 2.5" front lift

Ok all you suspension gurus. I need your help with my 05 4x4.

I tried to replace my shocks today. Had no trouble at all with the back ones, but couldn't get the front ones off. So I took it to a shop, and they couldn't get them off either. Said that they won't come out because the lift is keeping so much pressure on the spring and a-arm. Their solution was going to be to cut the old shock off with a torch. I said hell no, and then asked them how they planned to get the new on in if they can't get the old one out.

How do I get them off?? Completely remove the lower a-arm?

thats a very easy task for a diy'er and i would reconsider ever taking my vehicle to that "shop". they probbably didnt remove the sway bar ends and you will not need to completelty remove the a arm

It's actually the shop I always go to. They do great work. At least that's what I thought before he started talking about taking a torch to my truck. I was going to do it myself, but don't have the tools to do it with. It's ok though, an old friend of mine who used to be a ford mech. is gonna do it for me.
