Default Removing wax residue from black plastic? Help!

Do any of you guys have a good solution for getting white wax residue off of black plastic body molding? I've tried several different things including Deep Creep and even brake parts cleaner. Nothing has worked yet. Is there a trick to get this stuff off?

This might seem crazy but how about some finger nail polish remover on a cue tip?

Armor All Tire Foam works for me. Makes the plastic shiny too!

Spray on and wipe around.

I might give this a try. The problem is, alot of products shine up the black plastic making the wax residue disappear... for about a week. Then when the plastic dries back out, you can clearly see the wax residue again. I'm looking for something that truely removes it.

i dont suggest using nail polish remover. the main ingredient in that is acetone and that will eat plastic faster than you can blink.

i second the tire shine though, ive used that before. also 303 aerospace protectant works very well.

I found that using a detail brush with stiff plastic bristles (looks like a big toothbrush) and some Simple Green cleaner worked great for me. It takes some time but really works well. Put blue masking tape against any painted surface to prevent clear coat scratching first! This process takes off oxidation too and leaves the plastic looking new.

Thanks, Jeffery. I'll give this a try.

Weird how it comes in a plastic container... I wouldnt think twice about using it.... I dripped some on my tailgate plastic when removing the paint that was on the logo on the tailgate and no issues... even laid a cue tip with it on on the tailgate... no issues...

But if tire shine works, yeah use that first Haha
