Default Removing Passenger Head with exhaust manifold

I'm having to replace my passenger cylinder head. The head is ready to come out except for the exhaust manifold. I was curious if it is possible to remove the head with the exhaust manifold still attached or if I need to remove the manifold before I remove the head. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There's no "harm" in removing the head with the exhaust manifold still attached. The only real question is will it clear any obstacles? If so go for it, if not then you'll have to remove it.

I will be trying it today after work. I think that I'll be able to clear everything but I figured I'd ask before I tried it. I will post what happens tomorrow when I get back to a computer.

How much time do you have in removing it?

I'd say to get down to the head I have about 8 hours into it at least. I have spread out working on it over a few days so its hard for me to say. If it is your first time doing it, it will take a lot longer. I have already removed the timing cover once so I had an idea how to get all the hard bolts out and things like the clutch fan were easier to remove.

I was able to remove the head with the exhaust manifold on. I have a feeling that installing it will be more difficult but I will try with the exhaust manifold on first then if I can't do it, I will remove the Y-pipe and install the exhaust manifold with the head installed.

The head was reinstalled with the exhaust manifold on. I would suggest that the transmission dipstick is removed when reinstalling.
