Regearing
Hey y'all,
I am going to regear my F150. It is an 05 5.4 4wd. I have 35s on it, and want to go from 3.73s to 4.10s. Not to be an *****, but that is what I decided talking to a buddy of mine, and I don't want to go any higher, so please don't turn this thread into 'why not get 4.56s'... I have never bought gears before, so what I am is asking is how to go about looking for some, what brands are good, and how do it know if they are posi's?
Thanks for the help.

I've never regeared before, but I am curious about the difference it will make. Most people would say go to 4.56. Keep us posted. If I end up regearing, 06 5.4L XLT with 3.73's, I would also get a Detroit (?) E-locker. Or some kind of locker.

Www.diffsonly.com I have heard is good. I won't turn it into a why not 4.56 thread, but if only taking a small step to 4.10s what are you looking to gain. I would say spend the 1500 elsewhere. Do you already have a programer? If not that may do the trick for you. Gets your shift points and speedometer back in line. Just don't think you will gain enough to warrant the cost. Unless you are towing heavy loads the 3.73 and 35s combo works for many. Dangfoo will probably chime in soon as he had that combo for a while and is happy with it.

going to 4:10 gears with 35's is a waste of money...get a nice programmer like stated above and save yourself a couple grand. don't forget you need to do the front also...4WD

Keep in mind the RPMs are different becuase the chart uses a 1:1 gear ratio and our overdrive isnt a 1:1 ratio. (0.7:1)
