rear window
so i rolled down my pass. rear window on my 04 supercrew and when i tried to roll it up it made a horrible grinding noise. i popped the door panel off and all the chord that pulls the window up and down has come out of the little motor thing and knotted up and is in a big mess. has anyone had this happen and what would be the easiest/cheapest way to fix this ****. oh i have a $%#@!*& screw driver holding my window up, how ghetto is that!!!!!!

At the risk of being called a smart ***, I love the crank up windows I currently have. My previous ride was a land rover. I replaced all for crank mechanisims for that ride. It was about $400 per window too.
Good luck with your windows. I hope it all works out for you.
You may be able to dig out all the loose cabling and then go down to the boat shop "West Marine Products," and get an equal lenght of wire, and use that to replace the screwed up wire you have in there. You'll have to get those little rings and splice it in there too.

Well Bob, I always say it's better to be a smart ***then a dumb ***!
Cranks do have their advantages but, it's nice to be able to roll all four windows down without pulling over, getting out, and going to each door.
It only cost me about $112 for the motor that comes with a new cable. Not bad (Ford wanted $317 to replace it! ) and now I have a spare window motor just in case!
Knock on wood I don't need it! That last line was for WhiteCrystal1.

You're right about being able to open all the windows without being an Orangatang. (grin) I admit that there's been times when I wanted to open the other window and had to pull over to do it. Then I had to pull over again to close it. The Land Rover set me back quite a bit on power windows though. I told a British guy in Reno, once, not long ago that the British, after all these years, still cannot connect two wires together and have them work for longer than a month. He really got pissed, but didn't have much to say until I mentioned that Old Man Lucas said, "Don't drive at night." Then I had to listen to the litanny obout all the things Lucas makes for cars now. I answered with just one word. Jaguar. (Grin)
Same with the mirrors too. It would be nice to adjust the other mirror by just pushing a button.
One of my wife's friends, before she met me, put a set of turn signals inside and up on the dashboard of her old Falcon because she would never turn them off and it drove her then boyfriend nuts. She learned to turn them off when she didn't need them. Everytime I see a pickup with the mirror turn signals I think about the turn signal thing.
Yep, cars have come a long ways in a lot of ways, but they're still just a collection of parts rolling along in formation on four wheels, also in formation.
Anyway, I hope it works out without much PIA factor for you.
