I'm going to try to drive forward suggestion, if that fails, I'll try to route to green/yellow wire. If both those fails, I'm returning the HU and getting a different one. I have until January 31 to do so.

Sure sounds like I've done everything correct and the HU is the problem. Appreciate all the help fellas. Couldn't have done it without you.
I did mine today and have a similar scenerio except my kenwood has an option in the menu to switch to automatic override when in reverse but won't. I can manually switch to camera mode but I think I have to do additional wiring so it does sound like its your head unit. Does'nt help that is cold as heck today. Good luck

Next run the rca plug from the camera to the back of your monitor. In my case it was the stereo. On the back of the monitor you will have to run a wire from the camera/stereo to tell the monitor to turn on when the truck is put into reverse. Not sure about the passenger side but I'm 100% sure that in the drivers side it is the black/pink wire. It drops off right in front of the seat and exits thru a grommet there. That's the easiest place to find it. That is picking it up under the kick panel on the drivers side.
Was reading this post cause I did mine today and almost have the same problem except I can turn my camera on with backup cam mode button on front of my HU but won't go on in reverse automatically. Thanks for answering him and me indirectly. What kind/type wire did you run from back of HU to this black/pink wire if you don't mind me asking. Thought I"d tackle it tomorrow

just to give everyone an update. i spoke to customer service at BOSS. Apparently the black/pink wire was incorrect. They told me

"You need to rewire the back up camera wire to the positive trigger wire to the back up light.
Whatever it is connected to now, its providing voltage to the back up wire."

After getting this, I went out and wired to the green/yellow wire on the right kick on the passenger side. Everything works now although getting to that wire was a B!

The screen goes on and off on occasion but at this point I don't care. Hope this thread helps out others who are going through the same thing!

As far as extending the wire from the HU to that green/yellow wire, I bought a primary wire from my local Auto Zone to extend it. Tucked it with my antenna wire to hide it.

I just ran a piece of speaker wire from the head unit down. It just needs to be a single wire.

Do some of you guys have a stock camera already? regardless except for the routing of the wire this might help out with reverse wires

Punch a hole in the grommet next to the brake booster.

I brought my wires up under the driver side doorsill panel, there is a rubber grommet which the stock wiring harness goes to the through the floor to the rear of our trucks. Under the same sill is the black wire with the dark purple strip is for constant ignition 12v, and the green with yellow stripe is for reverse trigger wire.
