Default Rear slider dead fixed by hammer

So, my rear slider was dead cold, no sound, nothing, but I noticed the dome light dimming every time I hit the button.

Googling around for answers, came crossed a very interesting concept, on the Super Crew where the armrest is, behind it sits the motor, all you have to do is tap the motor with a hammer a few time and it was good again. At least this worked for me. I can't complain.

I took the opportunity, removed the back seat's back and liner, then I lube the cables with Teflon lube.

Kudos to the internet.

Sounds like you've got a short somewhere. Tapping it with a hammer probably just completed the circuit for now, but it may start acting up again on you. Did you check your connections to make sure they were tight?

The connector was never disconnected still wrapped in fabric tape.
I don't think it's short but more of motor laziness. Maybe there's dead zone in the motor from not using it in six months.

Whats the big deal ? I fix all kinds of things with a hammer !
Seriously though, mine does exactly the same thing once in a while. I suspect its the window sticking shut but not sure. Its not a short because its not blowing the fuse, and if it was an open you wouldn't get the dimming dome light. Its drawing current. I'll have to try some silicone sray lube in the tracks, and lube the cables also.

I'll probably have to do this to my 05 scab. Slider recently quit working but not a big deal as I have a shell on the back w/ solid front window.

How do I get my back seat back off to access motor?

- Remove the seat belt holder (pop the tab off with small screw driver to get to the 2 10 mm screws) Remove 2 10 mm screws.
- With all your mighty grab a hold of the bottom backseat back firmly and with one deep breath give it a pull straight up.

PS. I almost pulled my milk on this one.

A few with a small hammer and mine is working again.

I used a pry bar to lift up on the ends of the seat back.
