Rear End Slipping Noise
I'm really confused on some rear end noise I've been trying to fix on my 2004 F150 FX4. After going off-roading and making it home safely I tried driving the next day and noticed a weird sound after I pulled out of my driveway. Brought it back to the house and took a closer look.
The sound is coming from the driver side read end of the vehicle sounds like it is coming from somewhere in the wheel. It sounds like a chain slipping and a clunking sound at the end of each wheel revolution. This sound is isolated to the driver side rear wheel.
What it is not:
At first I was thinking it might have to do with the driveshaft or the differential. I ripped apart the differential and examined all the gears. Besides desperately needing a fluid change, there was nothing wrong with the rear differential. Since the noise is isolated to the driver side rear wheel I think we can safely rule out the driveshaft.
Right now I am thinking it is the wheel hub or axle bearing, has anyone heard a sound like this before or have any thoughts or opinions on this?

I forgot to mention that was one of the first things that I did. I only removed the wheel, I didn't remove the hub. Upon a visual inspection I didn't see anything trapped back there. The sound I am hearing is more of a mechanical sound so I don't believe I have anything stuck in the wheel somewhere.

I'm going to preface this with it could have been a lot worse. After I took my brake rotor off, my e-brake shoe/hardware and brake backer plate/hardware all fell to the ground in pieces. Everything was mangled and destroyed pretty bad. I have a bunch of photos I'll post tomorrow.
